Hello I´m back again and this time I´m bringing you a book review, well actually a Saga or Series it doesn’t matter, I know I haven’t written a lot this year, but right now I feel good with my life, I feel inspired, maybe because I listening to Florence and The Machines, wish I love. But let’s get going with the real reason you are here.

SYNOPSIS:

Russel Middlebrook is convinced he's the only gay kid at Robert L. Goodkind High School. Then his online gay-chat buddy turns out to be none other than Kevin, the popular but closeted star of the school's baseball team. Soon Russel meets other gay students too. There's his best friend, Min, who reveals she's bisexual; Min's soccer-playing girlfriend, Terese; and Terese's politically active friend, Ike.

But how can kids this diverse get together without drawing attention to themselves?

Today we are going to talk about a series wish I´ve read recently and I liked, first of all, this series is about LGBT relationships, so if you don’t this type of genre don’t worry, you can read others of my reviews from other genres, but if you don’t care reading this type of books or you want to start reading this type of books then you are welcome to read this review.

I was browsing Goodreads (social media for readers) and I was in this reader block which is a difficult state to get out, so I started searching on my recommendations and I found The Geography Club, I´ve heard a lot of buzz about this book in the LGBTQ+ Community, and intrigued me to know what is about it. I look for more information about it and I found that it has a movie so I made up my mind that I have to read it.

So I downloaded and I started to read it, and felt so connected to the character, he was silly and new to the world of accepting his sexuality, we even shared some moments, and it was fun light hearted read, I felt relaxed, and I felt I was on habitat where I belong. I actually read this book in a day; you don’t even realize that you are going to end it soon.

But let’s talk about the more structural characteristics, I liked how the author transmitted his feelings and I felt more impressed when I saw that the author wasn’t that young but he still knew how to connect with young teens.

The characters: Were so much fun you love Gunnar, Russel and Min they have such a good relationship it reminds me my relationship with my best friends. Min is the usual Asian know it all (a little bit stereotypical but it worked), Gunnar is the nerd but lovely guy and finally Russel the main character, is this awkward, unlucky but lucky at the same time if you know what I mean.

The story of the book is this bunch of outcast kids decides to make a group, each one of them belong to the LGBT community and from there everything evolves. This is a series formed by 4 books but it has sequel series formed by 3 books which I haven’t read but I´m planning to.

CRITICISM

Long time no see. Sorry I haven’t updated more frequently, I was on exams and I had too much homework to do, so I didn´t have time or energy to make a review. But, Today I finished school so let’s celebrate with a review from my favorite graphic novel of all times: V for Vendetta.

If you think this name sound familiar maybe is because you remember hearing about the movie where Natalie Portman shaved her head.

Why I like this graphic novel so much?

Well I like that V is justice, he actually is justice, It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor but if you are not following the value of justice than V is going to prove you right. He believes that everybody deserves justice, prostitutes, homosexuals, kids etc. And I love that because this comic is old and I think it could be mind opening to people who didn’t think the same way as V.

There is another reason I like this book, the movie is my dad favorite movie, and It was mine too, until The Perks Of Being a Wallflower came to my life (who doesn´t love Logan Lerman), so when I realized that V for Vendetta was a comic I had to read it, in some personal way I wanted to be more close to my dad by reading the book. I read it in 1 day, in my computer, and may I tell you when I finished it, it was midnight and I couldn’t sleep because I was arguing about the book with myself, and I loved that feeling, where feel so trapped in a book that when you finish it you are still trapped.

Did I like the writing style?

I´ve read 3 graphic novels from Allan Moore, and two of them are old, and I learned English as my second language, so sometimes I don’t understand some words but I like how he writes, he has a incredible world in his mind and I wish one day I could be as creative as he is.

Is V a heroe?

I don’t usually think that a hero in a comic has to have powers, most of times I read a comic my favorite hero is a powerless, because they always are more intelligent and reasonable than the other heroes. Personally I think that everyone who stands for human rights is a hero, everyone who helps someone just to help, not to get something for a change.

CRITICISM:

Everybody Sees the Ants, is this amazing masterpiece of literature, it made me happy and me feel silly and sad, it made me feel human. The main character suffers from extreme bullying, in some way he now feel numb and I don´t remember in which book I read that is better to feel pain than feel numb because when you are numb it means that you have gave up and this story is about never giving up no matter how hard is getting to keep trying. This book touches sensitive topic like cheating, bullying, suicide and family abuse, but it is not a depressing book is a book that gives you hope, the hope to keep on.

Lucky (the main character) has emotional scars and physical scars. His attacker call him names; fag, douchebag, garbage etc. Lucky almost gave up but he didn’t and this is a great role model to all the teenagers. I´ve suffered from bullying people have called me fag, queer, woman etc. Just because I´m different I don´t like the same things normal guys like, I felt that being different was wrong but thanks to my parents and friends I know that people will try to beat us down but we don´t have to let them, we have to fight against them, but not with our fist instead we have to use our words, we have to try to make them reason that what they are doing is wrong and if that doesn’t change anything than we need to search help from bigger authorities, but you don’t have to keep quiet.

The book is name Everybody Sees the Ants because he actually sees ants and talks to them and they respond, but this is almost a metaphor that we all have problems even our bullyers, so we need to understand everybody, no one is perfect and no one has normal life, they are always bumps in the road.

CRITICISM:

Eleanor and Park was incredible, I felt so connected with the characters that each time that Eleanor felt sad i was feeling sad as well. I just finished reading Fangirl the other book of Rainbow Rowell and i realized that Rainbow Rowell is one of those writers know how teens feel; know how to make fall in love with the characters. For me Eleanor and Park was a very real story, i truly believe that everything the characters suffer and feel, may happen to us.

Eleanor is a girl with very low self-esteem, she believes that she doesn´t deserves to be loved and all the time thinks that people see her as a work of charity rather than a real person, and I think that the topic to talk about in this book happens so much in our society and I mention this because I have suffered from the same thing, as a teenager we begin to look at our own shortcomings and not our qualities and sometimes we fell apart ; we feel ugly and misunderstood, because I´ve felt this way same because of the comments people say ,we let the words of others get to our self-esteem and we don´t have to let that happen. We shouldn't be afraid to show who we really are, we are all different, and we are all crazy and no matter what the other people say.

That is the moral of this book, we are all unique and we are all beautiful in our own way, it does not really matter the physical, nor the manner of how we dress, the only thing that matters is what we show from inside-out.

I am grateful to Rainbow Rowell for saying that been different from others, doesn’t makes us less or more than them, it makes us equal

CRITICISM:

Okay this book has everything you’re looking for, well specially action. This freaking book is packed with action, since the beginning. And it will keep you sweating and confused while you are reading it. Just like the synopsis says everything will be tested you can’t trust in anyone, you feel paranoid, and vulnerable. I read the three books and I think that this one is the best of all three, because you never get bored and Man! I read it so fast, not like the first one, The Maze Runner #1 was a slow read because you have to analyze all the information they are giving to you.

I totally recommend The Scorch Trial to be you´re next reading, or to become you´re current read. And we have to give James Dashner applause for giving me such jump scares; I literally got scared in a part of the story because I got so into the story, that when the character got scared I got scared too!

(I´ve haven´t wrote anything since September or November. I don´t actually remember, and for that negligence I am so terribly sorry. But there´s a good thing from that negligence, there are a lot of books I read and that I would be so pleasure to discuss with you)

CRITICISM:

We Were Liars a “Thrilling and beautiful, and blisteringly smart, We Were Liars is utterly unforgettable”- John Green

You may think this great writer says that this will be unforgettable, well I will not remember this book in 2 years from now. I had such highly expectations of this book, but it disappointment a little. It´s supposed to be a story that will have you in suspense, in the back cover of the book it says “We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel…” It was an interesting read, it confused me at the begging because I wasn´t sure if the book had to main characters, but it didn´t, the book has a young, antisocial, rich girl but not dumb.

The book wasn´t boring. My favorite thing of this book is that the main character writes stories, and they are very sinister and messed up, with those short stories you can see what the main character is really thinking.

The synopsis of this book is very intriguing to anyone who reads it. I think the books was not bad, but not good enough to be my favorite so I will give this book

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

CRITICISM:

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is a very confusing book. You don’t know what really happens to the character or what doesn’t happen. The main character has a lot of mental issues and the books starts slowly to give you reasons why the main character is that way. Is an easy read and I think every teenager can read it, it has no sexual theme.

From my point of view the author had me as a reader with sweaty palms and paranoiac, in the way that I didn´t know if the main character was lying or telling the truth,the book has flashbacks but they are dressed as a nightmares. I can say that I liked this book but the ending of it was not very interesting, so I will see later if I continue with this trilogy.

CRITICISM:

Beautiful Creatures is a well-known saga written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I started reading this saga in May, it is consisted by 4 books, its main topic is witchery or magic like people say, I like the books with this supernatural- fantasy, the thing is that there not only witches they are more supernatural species. I like how every character is described, they give you specific details about every location and characters. I like the two main characters and I also like that a man or teenager is narrating this story.

I will explain a little about the book; it’s the love story between two teenagers, but like any story there it is something that will try to break them up; Lena, the girlfriend, is a Caster (Witch) and she is cursed, she will never be able to love somebody. I like that type of love that is forbidden, is very interesting. The main character Ethan has to decide between love and his life.

I totally recommend this book to everyone to read! It is awesome and it has an awesome plot and character. It is very well-written. The saga Caster Chronicles (Beautiful Creatures) is full of magic, surprises and love. This was an amazing story plot. It is so well written, every book gets better and better. This book it has his own motion picture, but it didn't was that well made as the book.

CRITICISM:

If I stay is the book that everyone is talking about, well actually is the movie everybody is talking about. I read the book 3 months ago, I was so excited because I heard good things about it, and then I was a little disappointed because I actually didn´t quite like the book. Why I didn´t like the book?

Well I liked the plot of the book it was well written, but I felt like it is missing something, which is the main thing that I look in a book which is FEELING. I didn’t felt the connection between the Reader and the Book. Maybe it was because I like books which has a surprise in them, I felt this book was to monotone, I got bored in some point of the story.

POSIBBLE SPOILER!!!

I read the synopsis of the other book when I finished ¨IF I STAY¨, so I got more disappointed. They broke up! I was like: WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING A BOOK WHERE THEY FIGHT FORLOVE AND THEN BROKE UP! It doesn´t make sense at all, maybe that is why I didn’t like that much this book, because I felt like it was pointless, that EVERYTHING was pointless.

I still will not give it a low rate because the book is not bad, I didn´t like it because the fact I gave in the begging.

I will give it

On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out how he made the list.

CRITICISM:

Let’s start talking about Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. At the begging of the book the first pages are very confusing, but then when we start reading and we get what the writer eanted to make in there. I liked the book it has a good plot and good characters and it makes you feel everything that author wanted you to feel, the emotions of the characters, but the thing I didn´t like at all was the way that the actuall book was written, I really don´t know if the ebook I read was incorrect or that the way that writer wanted it to be, I will explain myself;

The books has to different POVs. Why that confused me you may ask? Well the book is written like this:

I was in the party drinking and having fun.

I´m walking in the park then I almost fell.

I was like; What! Weren´t you in the party! But then I realized that every sentence is one different POV or every paragraph, so that confused a lot. And the worst of the things is that you have to figure out who is really talking.

Now let’s talk about the about the book, the main topic of the book is Suicide and Bullying. So it is not a book for everyone, especially if you are sensitive to this topics then please don´t read it. The plot or the storyline is very genuine, and I think is almost the way that John Green writes, but John Green is more romantic and humoristic, this book is more harsh in the main topic.

Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

CRITICISM:

The Giver. I have no words to say how great I felt with this freaking book. I like the dystopia books, because I like to think how people think that the world will be in the future is very interesting. The Giver is the only book I have read that is from 1994 and has a dystopian topic. The book is narrated in third person, I like more the books when they are in first person, but this time I didn´t made that much deal about it, because the plot really got into me. This book is very easy and very light, I actually read it in 5 hours MY OWN RECORD! (Not to brag, well just a little bit lol). The plot hypnotizes you and you crave for more. I think I will definitely will continue with this saga.

The Book is narrated by a boy named Jonas and we start to see how everything changes around him. Another book that is narrated by a boy and I promise to you readers that the next will be a girl who narrates. I totally recommend to anyone to read this book.
